Worlds Apart
Hope Forest Sauvignon Blanc 2022
Adelaide Hills
Hope Forest’ is not a location in Westeros but is an overlooked sub-region of the Kuitpo sub-region within the Adelaide Hills. It is the most southerly tip of the Hills sitting atop the Willunga Hill leading into McLaren Vale. The climate is much cooler than the area immediately north into the Hills and much drier and cooler than the Vale to the south. Louis adores this area for the lengthy hangtime and lower than usual sunshine that often strips Sauvignon Blanc of its Sauvignonness.
Vineyard
Biodynamically farmed Brackenwood Vineyard (Hope Forest), The climate is much cooler than the area immediately north into the Hills and much drier and cooler than the Vale to the south. Ironstone and quartz-riddled clay
Winemaking
Native fermentation in open-top stainless-steel (100% destemmed), 3 days skin contact
Vintage
The Adelaide Hills experienced a very cool season and the latest harvest since 2011. A cool, relatively dry autumn furnished long ripening to uphold very good natural acidity.
Tasting Note
Aromas of lemon balm, nectarines, and basil-like tones are at the forefront with lingering green pear on the back end. The wine is more herbal on the palate, but by no means green, with a cascading fruity side
